EyeCon Recap: Day 1

flower
Day 1: Friday

I got up at 5:00 AM Friday morning in order to catch my flight that was scheduled to leave at 8:25 AM and was the only direct flight leaving to Orlando via Air Canada. By 5:45 AM my grandfather and I were on route to the airport and arrived there by 6:20 AM or so. I entered the airport and spent the next 30 minutes trying to figure out how to work the self-check in kiosks. I tried twice and attempted to flag down the same airport personnel lady five times before finally giving up and going to the Air Canada counter. While in line, we were all told by another employee to use the kiosks to check in since the line was long. Annoyed, I bi-passed the machines and went to the counter to speak with an agent.

Finally got to the counter and I was told by the agent that I currently did not have a seat on the flight but that I would be getting one and that when I got to the gate, the agent there would call me.

I manage to get through security after some delay. I didn't have a pen and I couldn't fill out the card you're supposed to give the customs agents. After staring at people filling theirs out and watching them take off as soon as they were done resulting in me unable to ask them if I could borrow a pen, I made eye contact with a nice business man in a suit who gave me a smile. Encouraged, I went up to him and asked if I could possibly borrow an extra pen from him. He said sure, and handed me a really nice one, explaining that he's been in my position before. I thanked him and plopped myself down to fill out the form and he took off toward the custom agents.

Finally, with my form filled out I proceeded to the custom's area, and managed to pass the same business man. I called him sir, got his attention, thanked him for the pen and returned it. Seriously, I love that man.

Then I went to my gate, and finally an agent showed up and called us standby people to the counter. She managed to get everyone their ticket but mine, so I was left standing there while she promised she was still working on it. I was getting more and more nervous as time went on, but finally she gave me my ticket and I sat down waiting to be called to board the flight. Finally, my turn to get on the plane, I hand my ticket to the other agent and he asked who got me the seat and I pointed to the female agent and he said 'oh, she did' and handed me back my passport. Confused, I got on the plane only to discover, I had been bumped to first class, baby. That's right, I was in seat 1A right by the window. It was awesome! I'd never flown first class before! I got a hot towel, skipped the breakfast (which was an omelet with spinach, and potatoes, a fruit cup and a roll for those interested) , but got a free snack, drinks, pillow, etc.

Got to the airport and met up with my cab buddy and we drove to the hotel where I checked in and lost her. By the way, Florida is insanely humid, and it rained and stormed the whole three days I was there. Thank god I bought a flat iron for the trip. I wandered alone for hours after arriving at the hotel. I had no schedule and had no clue when registration was taking place. I saw huge groups of people in SN t-shirts but felt too weird randomly approaching them so I just sat alone for awhile. Finally registration was underway and I got my package, and some food and went to my room for a bit.

Came back down to ask for a schedule and ran into my cab buddy who hung out briefly before disappearing. But while everyone was lingering about, I ran into another person who was also there alone and we started talking and pretty much hung out all weekend.

Everything at the con was behind schedule and finally we were ready for the TIH screening. We went into the room and before the kicked off the movie, they had a meet and greet with the stars. Jim Beaver, Samantha Ferris, Chad Lindberg, Gabriel Tigerman and even Sandy McCoy was on hand and I hadn't expected to see her on Friday. She's so beautiful and looked stunning. She's so slim, like no butt, but I totally get why Jared is in love with her because I think I love her too, lol.

Gabe was totally caught off guard when told to say something to the fans. It was his first con and Dizzy who was the announcer at the con called him a 'con virgin' and it was hilarious, lol. Gabe went all red and everyone laughed. Sandy assured him that she was a pro now, since this was her second convention only and she would help him, lol.

After the stars filed out, we sat down to watching 'Ten Inch Hero' which was a better movie than I had originally anticipated. Rumour is the CW is looking to purchase it, and we were assured it would eventually come out on DVD or TV but the director's didn't know when yet. It could be in two months or two years. They had a Q&A with the directors and afterward for $10 you could buy the movie poster and they would sign it which I did. One of them even personalized it for me by adding my name.

After that, I left the room but couldn't find my new con buddy so I went up to my room and got some sleep since tomorrow was going to be a jam-packed day. And I prayed Jared Padalecki was going to show, lol.

I'm glad you enjoyed TIH. I have issues with the end, but all in all, it is very enjoyable. :D

Yeah, I honestly thought it would suck. But it was cute. I don't think it was as great as everyone seemed to think but I still liked it :)
